(As an aside, it sure looks damn good casted to the 4K Mi TV from that small phone!)

And no, I have no idea if this is any kind of significant announcement in the world of games. I don’t play games and have just about zero knowledge on the subject.

I have to hand it to Xiaomi for knowing how to hype. But with announcement after announcement, they’re beginning to be like the boy who cried “Wolf!”

Youku Announces Large RK3288 Tablet

PadNews has the few details (use Chrome as Google Translate continues its FAIL).

It’s a 15.6-inch screen at 1366 × 768!

Youku ordered one million 3288 CPUs from Rockchip. Aside from this tablet, they’ll also be used in the new set-top box Youku announced. They also announced a router.

This is an unusual move and there’s more to the story — which involves joint ventures and “content” — than just the tablet.

But it still seems as if YouTube were to announce a tablet.

Pricing and availability of the tablet has not be set.

Five Technology Interest Collapse

I’m taking the shrinking number of forum posts as an indication of sales. I sure hope Five Technology has companies lined up to sell tablets under their brands — as Haier has — otherwise this company isn’t going to be around long.

Xiaomi announces smartphone connected Mi Air Purifier for 899RMB (RM505)

Xiaomi has just announced a new product in the market called the Mi Air Purifier. The device does exactly what it's name suggestsin that it sucks in polluted air to give out lung friendly air. It is extremely small but powerful enough to purify all of your air in the house. The Mi Air Purifier features two fans and four air ducts which can filter out 10000 liters of clean air per minute. Its inbuilt filter can remove 99.99% PM2.5 particles from the air. The PM2.5 particles are those which are below 2.5 micrometers in size. This category of particles contains things like soot, dust, smoke and even liquids which are not easy to filter out and can damage your lungs. This air purifier can come in handy for people who live in areas where air is polluted like Beijing and other parts of the world. You can control a number of aspects of the device as well as get alerts via your smartphone. It also displays the current air quality level. The Mi Air Purifier is currently available for pre-order in China for 899 RMB which comes to around RM505. As of now, Xiaomi has no plans to release it outside of China but eventually it could arive here with Xiaomi Malaysia.
