LG L25 Firefox OS smartphone gets detailed specs

Basically the LG L25 is an entry-level device, it sports a 4.68 1280 x 720 pixels IPS display resulting in a pixel density of 313ppi. Under the hood is a Qualcomm snapdragon 400 SoC with 1.5GB of RAM  and 16GB of internal storage.

Other specs details includes – a 8MP rear facing camera, 2.1MP front facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0, 4G LTE, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Micro USB. The smartphone weighs 148 grams and measures 139 x 70 x 10.5mm .

The LG L25 is rumoured to be showcased at the CES 2015 in January; though there is no official announcement yet from LG. The device is also said to be available exclusively from the KDDI carrier in Japan.

Apple aims to compete with high-fashion watch makers, turning the Apple Watch into what could be a high-end accessory. The simple design and casual dress code at Apple stores may simply not fit with this new strategy, though.

This is why Apple aims to bring a little more glamour to its store by hiring fashion-focused staff. This may very well change the way Apple Stores look and feel, as a whole. These would be “luxury experts” with a good background in fashion, according to some leaked documents.

Opinion: Apple has always been about the full experience. The way you unbox your device is an experience. As is turning it on for the first time. And, of course, the shopping experience has to fit. With rumors saying some of these Apple Watch versions, namely the gold one, will cost multiple thousand dollars, it only makes sense that they want to give luxurious treatment to customers.

Vivo X5F Gets Certification From TENAA

As you may know, a while ago we found out that Vivo is currently developing a new smartphone device called Vivo X5Max, the world’s slimmest device with a 3.98 mm thin case. Today, through the Chinese agency TENAA, we notice that Vivo will launch a mini-version of this device, a phone that will be called Vivo X5F.

This one recently received certification from TENAA, ageny that unveils both its dimensions as well as some of its technical specs. From its thickness point of view, we see that Vivo X5F will measure 6.3 mm, number that was obtained by measuring the phone in its thickest point, more precisely on the camera.

Recently I had a chance to test NO.1 NOTE 4, it looks almost exactly like Galaxy NOTE 4, for one-third of the price and most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference but a logo.

Ubboxing
Opening the box was pretty easy and so was the process of disassembling everything. In the box, you get the phone,a battery, a charging adapter, a MicroUSB cable for charging and transferring data to and from your phone to the PC, a screen protector and finally, the user manual.

Design
The size of the smartphone is 153.5x78.6x8.5mm, on the front, you have a 5.7 inch screen with the ear piece, front camera and the sensor above the display. Below it, you have a bar for the capacitive keys. on the right side is the power button and on the left are the volume controls.

Connectivity
The Valencia is a 3G budget phone and has all the connectivity options you would expect. There is Wi-Fi ( 802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, 2G GSM and 3G. The device is dual SIM and supports 3G on 850 and 2100MHz.2100 Mhz is the most common 3G frequency and should work in most places around the world, however a lot of carriers also use a secondary 3G frequency range.

MINIX NEO X8-H Plus is an update to the popular NEO X8-H, replacing Amlogic S802 by Amlogic S812 processor, which adds HEVC/H.265 hardware video decoding up to 4K UHD (2160p), as well as Gigabit Ethernet. The new version also supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi. GearBest agreed to send me one sample for review. First. I’ll post picture of the device, and the board, before writing a full review in a few days.

MINIX NEO X-8H Plus Unboxing Pictures and Video

The company sent me the box by DHL, and which I got within a few days together with a document reading “Inbound Charges Invoice” in order to pay import taxes to my local government, and the courier’s service charge.

The device comes in the usual black, gray and green package from MINIX, customize with NEO X8-H Plus module, and highlighting support for H.265/HEVC 2160p, and Dolby Digital Plus.

MINIX NEO X8-H Plus, MINIX NEO M1 Air Mouse, and other Accessories 

The media player, or like MINIX likes to call it, the media hub comes with lots of accessories: a micro USB to USB cable, an HDMI cable, a USB OTG adapter, a 5V/3A power supply, a Wi-Fi antenna, an infrared remote control, as well as a product brochure, and a multi-language setup guide in English, German, Chinese, and Russian. GearBest, as most other sellers do, also provided MINIX NEO M1 air mouse in the package, together with its RF USB dongle, and a reference card / small user manual.

MINIX NEO X8-H Plus

All devices from the company look alike, as people prefer discreet and functional devices, rather than fancy designs. One side features the Wi-Fi antenna connector, while the other comes with the power button, headphone and microphone jacks, a USB 2.0 port, an SD card slot, and a micro USB OTG port. The rear panel gets a recovery button for firmware updates (in case OTA does not work), HDMI output, optical S/PDIF, 2x USB ports, a Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) port, and the power jack. It must be the first time I see a separate microphone jack on an Android TV box.

MINIX NEO X8-H Plus Board Pictures

Based on my experience with MINIX NEO X6, I was not very confident I would be able to open the device. There are four sticky rubber pad on the bottom of the enclosure. Just leave them alone, as there aren’t any screws under… I could just use my little green tool to separate the bottom and top part of the enclosure, by popping out the bottom part, which came out very easily.

NEO X8-H Plus Board

There’s not much to be seen on the back of the board except FCC/CE compliance markings. There are four screws hoding the board to the case, three came off with some efforts, but the last one, the one with a small white mark under, stayed put whatever technique I tried to untighen it, just like with MINIX NEO X6. I don’t know what the factory does (glue?), but I suppose they don’t want people to tear down their devices. I could have a little peak inside, and I notice a metallic plate on the top to keep the device cool.
